The proper and sustainable management of sanitation, waste and water resources is a fundamental goal of the United Nations, articulated in the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The management of these resources has a direct bearing on the quality of lives for all, but more especially communities in cities. Fresh water resources are depleting at an alarming rate, contaminated by human waste from industries and households, which compounds the water scarcity problem that currently affects one out of every ten people worldwide.

Prof Fuluhelo (Fulu) Netswera is currently the Director of the NWU  Business School and a former Deputy Dean of the faculty of Business and Management Sciences at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and former Director of the South African BRICS Think Tank (SABTT). He is a former Erasmus Mundus fellow of the University of Groningen and former Emerging Leaders International fellow in Philanthropy at the City University of New York – Centre on Philanthropy and Civil Society. He has published extensively and continue to research in the area of public governance. 

AIFANI TAHULELA

Conference Manager

Ms Tahulela Aifani Confidence is currently a PHD student; she completed her master’s degree and undergraduate degree at Cape Peninsula University of technology. Her research interests is on Waste minimization initiatives, poverty reduction, Sustainable development goals, Waste policy tends to focus on household waste at the expense of other waste streams despite their prevalence. Ms Tahulela has presented academic papers at local and international conferences.
